Character history[]
Creation and development in Dog Cat Mouse[]
Baron von Mouse (pronounced as "Mouze") was created by Chuck Barritt for the "Dog Cat Mouse" show in 2017. He is also a title character in the weekly Dog Cat Mouse comic strip, which started in 2018. The show is a trained animal act with a dog and cat. In the show, Baron von Mouse tells a story of the Lion Dog and Blur Cat magic powers followed by the tale of their amazing rescue as the animals act it out. Each one will do some tricks after their stories. After, the show will be followed by a meet-n-greet with the magical creatures.
The shows are normally street performances but are open to stage performances if that works better with the venue plans. The shows are performed two or three times each day. They will also perform any one of several short shows if stopped by guest throughout the day in their travels. They will also do a command performance for the Queen at the royal court upon request. The shows are adapted to several types of events such as renaissance fairs, pirate festivals, western festivals, living history events, historical reenactments, post-apocalypse events and science fiction events.
The character of Baron von mouse began to develop as Chuck Barritt started attending events with his cat and dog in early 2013, shortly after he adopted them. The early events were mostly to get the animals comfortable in social groups and to begin training them. They quickly began to be recognized by patrons and participants at each event (not many people attend events with a dog and cat in a wooden wagon). He soon teamed up with some participating performers at several events. Both animals progressed well with their training. While supporting each sponsoring performers, he began to develop their own show.
In late 2018 a weekly comic strip was started to chronicle the travels of Dog, Cat and Baron von Mouse. The different time period of each event was a perfect match for the time travel theme of the comic strip. Most of the stories are inspired by the events and other day to day activities. Almost all characters are based on actual friends and acquaintances of Chuck Barritt from the different events.
The stage performances and weekly comic strips continue to this day.
Biography[]
Mouse was raised by his mentor Bear (also known as 'The Bear') after he was abandoned by his mother at the age of 5 years old. Bear was a privateer and took Mouse out to sea on his voyages. Most of their journeys were in the region known as the 5th Sea on Bear's Sea Charts. It was a rich region and a popular trade route so pirate activity made it dangerous to travel. Bear's charts provided more than just safe passage to navigate these waters. It held the secrets to many other mysteries as well, including dimensional travel.
Those secrets were on an island mysteriously labeled as "Island H-58" ...
In popular culture[]
In the 1981 Danger Mouse TV series, the character Sinister Mouse is also known as Baron von Mouse. Sinister Mouse is introduced in the 2015 Danger Mouse revival series. He is the evil doppelganger version of Danger Mouse from the parallel universe Twystyverse.
